1. Nagastra, a UAV-based system, operates as an aerial ambush. It's called loitering munition because of its ability to hover above the target. It can fly at altitudes of over 4,500 meters, making it invisible to radar. It attacks in kamikaze mode, destroying both the target and itself. In addition to day-and-night surveillance cameras, the Loiter Munition is outfitted with a warhead capable of defeating soft skin targets. If the target is not detected or the mission is aborted, it can be returned for a soft landing with a parachute. Nagastra-l is the first indigenous weapon of its kind, capable of hovering in the air and striking when the target approaches.
2. Puja Tomar, an Indian strawweight, became the first Indian to win a UFC bout, defeating Brazilian Rayanne Amanda dos Santos via split decision at UFC Louisville.Puja Tomar defeated Rayanne Amanda dos Santos 30-27, 30-27, and 29-28.

10. About 100 tonnes of gold have been moved from the United Kingdom to the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) Indian vaults. This is India's first attempt to transfer this magnitude of gold reserves since 1991. About one-third of the RBI's gold reserves are kept domestically, with the remaining half being held in safe custody with the Bank of International Settlements and the Bank of England abroad. The RBI anticipates saving money by making this move instead of paying the Bank of England's storage costs.
According to the annual data released by the RBI, as of March 31, 2024, the central bank had 822.10 tonnes of gold in its foreign exchange reserves, up from 794.63 tonnes held at the same time the previous year.
11. Genetically modified (GM) mosquitoes were released in Djibouti, East Africa, to combat malaria. The top four countries in the 2024 list are Spain, Japan, France, and Australia, respectively. Compiled in collaboration with the UK-based University of Surrey, the index highlights India's strengths in several areas: high price competitiveness, robust air transport infrastructure, and solid ground and port infrastructure.

20. In a historic event, the Shompen tribes of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands took part in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections for the first time ever. Seven members of the Shompen community exercised their right to vote, marking a significant moment for one of India's least studied Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs). Residing in the dense tropical rainforests of Great Nicobar Island, the Shompen people form a distinct tribal community and live in relative isolation from mainstream processes, avoiding contact with settlers and ex-servicemen on the island. With their own language and no formal education system, it's unclear to what extent they comprehend or engage in political processes.
Out of a total of 84 eligible Shompen voters, seven participated in the electoral process at the Shopem Hut polling station. Assistance from the Adim Janjati Vikas Samiti (AAJVS) staff facilitated communication with the tribal members. Additionally, other PVTGs in the region also took part in the elections. 21. The government introduced a platform called CDP-SURAKSHA to provide horticultural farmers with subsidies under the Cluster Development Programme (CDP). The CDP-SURAKSHA is a digital platform.
